She made a good choice, she knew 19 was old and I was proud of her choice. Of course some may say that 19 is old for a competition horse but it depends on their health, if the horse is in poor health of course the horse would be pulled, by submission teams or the rider. She came with him for a reason though, I don’t know much about Adeline and I don’t watch her testing much but I can tell she made the right choice and put her horse first, even if it meant she had to suffice her score.
I think there's a lot we don't know about the incident in Rio. But there's one thing you can say and that's Adeline is a teamplayer :) She also wrote down something on her facebook page.
I watched the test and even the journalists were surprised to see the 19 year old horse to the Olympic Games, and said that it was certainly his last competition. I was surprised to see this "old" horse on this high level of competition. Even If he could during those last years, that's too much for his age to take a flight, to go to a 30° et 90% of humidity to do a dressage test more than 10 minutes to this level . . .
Fortunately she stopped, because that was heartbreaking to watch this . . . Why did she come with him ? Good question !
Personally I don't think that 19 is too old for a horse to go to the Olympic Games, everything depends on his health, career and cares. I know that Adeline does not have a good reputation but it's a good thing that she thought about her horse's health before anything else :)
