When I travel with the horses, I put on stable boots or wraps and depending on the distance, I also put bell-boots. The horses eat around 2 hours before the travel to avoid colic or other problems. They wear a rug depending on the weather or even just to avoid some wounds (except if it is too hot of course!). I try to be sure that the horses are the most comfortable as possible (hay if needed, the most space possible, clean wood chips). I also bring food, a water bucket and a spare halter and lead just in case.
