We have a horse that was on stall rest for 4 months due to a ligament issue. To bring her back, we had started walking her for 10-15 minutes every day, then once she was completely sound again, we would do a pattern of walk for 5, trot for 2 walk for five, trot for two, walk for 5 (while riding). After a week of that we did 3 2minute trots with 5minutes of walking in between. After a week of that we made it 3 3 minute of trot, then we made it 3 5minute segments of trot. She has been coping really well with this, and hasn't seemed over worked. Next week we are going to add in a few strides of canter. It's baisically just been slow and steady. To give you an idea of the timeline, we started riding her again in mid September
