How do you ask your horse for a shoulder in or haunches out?

It is important that you don't just throw the shoulders in and out. They have to be still going forward with a slight angle. For example for shoulder in you should see three legs in the mirror. You should ideally ask for shoulder in with your outside seatbone and support with your inside leg that way they are not falling in but that doesn't always happen! Just make sure you do not get in the habit of using your reins to ask.
