I got the linseed pellets, which lasted forever. Just a little did a lot for my girls, and we just added the pellets to their grain.
You can if you wish but it needs to be fed right away (as in same day) because it spoils quickly. And make sure you clean your grinder very well after each use. For that reason is why I went with the pre ground/milled from the feed store, they stabilize it as part of their process.

I get the milled type since it's so cold starting Oct/Nov until April/May. I leave it in the brown bag it comes in & store it in a cool dark place (old fridge in the barn works great for keeping the feed). Then I scoop out what I need at feeding time. Better than dealing with oil type & lasts quite a few months up to a year this way (some people keep it in a fridge in the summer). I have an old house with a great cold storage area. So I put 1 week's worth in a zip lock, in my fridge at the barn. :)
