It is really up to interpretation, what disciplines they know, how well they know them. if they have competed, age, breed, gender, medical background, conformation, if they are registered or passported professional training, temperament, etc. when I purchased my horse he was about 5k, a project to turn into eventer and dressage horse. I've been training him for about four months and that has increased his value to probably around 6k or 7k after our show season next year his price will increase if it is successful. here is a link for evaluating their Conformation http://extension.uga.edu/publications/detail.cfm?number=B1400
