Bareback pad or no pad?

Bareback pad or no pad?
I have a young off track quarter horse who needs to build a lot of top line and weight in general. I can't ride him without a bareback pad!
I just have a cheap one that can be found at western tack shops for <$50. It does the job and saves me from barebsck blisters from bony withers!
Sort of depends on the shape of your horse's back/withers and your weight. If he's not bony/underweight you dont need a pad (for your sake). If you're on the heavier side, go with a pad to soften the effect of your weight on his back (which the saddle normally does)
For his sake I wouldn't really worry, but I ordered a Thinline bareback pad just to help me be comfortable and stick 🙂
I jump my horse buddy without a pad and he is a little to skinny but he loves it and does not show discomfort
