The bands have the advantage of really holding the tendons and they are more flexible than the gaiters, which they are really rigid. They also protect the horse and for horses who are working hard or who are fragile or have difficulty on certain fields, it can be useful and relieve the horse. It is more practical and more used for dressage, but if you want to use them in jumping, it is better in addition to the scratch tape them.
For the pose, the important thing is that there are no creases that could hurt your horse and that it encompasses the ball! First, the members must be perfectly clean. To avoid the risk of injury, it is preferable to lay strips on cotton flannels (they are not mandatory). You have to lay the tape starting under the knee (for the anterior) or the hock (for the posterior), then to descend along the barrel to encompass the ball and to rise regularly. You have to be alone to lay strips, you can not pass the hand :D as they have to be tightened the same way all along.
I hope this helps. Good practice ;)
