My OTTB (raced until 11 - hurdles and fences) keeps throwing his head when there is any form of contact, his back and teeth are fine, what is your advice?

I have an ottb and I ride her bitless and all her problems were solved and if I want to ride in a bit I use a rubber loose ring snaffle it is really soft but I really recommend bitless I have tried a lot of bits and if you are going for a bit go with straight bar or double jointed
Have you tried riding him in just a halter? His bit could be too small or he might be more comfortable in a double jointed bit. You can also try side reins
