I remember the first time I competed I was very nervous! But my dad told me something that has always stuck in my head..."Just do what you do at home, this is no different!" I often find when we are practicing at home it's a lot easier to get things right the first time. If you feel yourself start to get nervous just think this is no different than what I've been practicing at home. Of course it's good to have some nerves before you compete but don't let yourself get too worked up! Something else that has always stuck in my head is something my trainer, Ben Maher, told me..."Go in there and have fun!" I sometimes find myself getting so anxious to win it often holds me back. Ben always tells me to go in and have fun and this seems to really help me calm my nerves because at the end of the day riding is something we love!
