My horse has only got half a mane because the other half just seems to look hogged, it may be from the rug rubbing it out in the fields, is there anyway I can prevent this?

I've found if you spray the mane area with ShowSheen (or anything that's gonna make the rug slide along the mane, like a coat gloss) works really well!
Braid it and put it in a mane bag
Thanks Devon. Ava G we don't have a hay ring In the fields just a large field full of grass with a wooden fence, maybe he's scratching off the fence? I'm not an expert I just hope it's something I can prevent.
He could be rubbing it off on a hay ring in the field. If you have a hay ring try feeding him hay from square bails.
Definitly try mtg it promotes hair growth and you can see the results in just a matter of a couple uses
Thank you!
Well I guess one option would be shave it all off, or maybe try watching him in the paddock to see if he's rubbing it? Maybe try massaging the area to encourage hair growth? I've heared that can help. Maybe try a satin good so rather than the rug rubbing his mane he will rub on the material?
