I have a barrel horse that I am training, she is doing great other than the fact of her head flying in the air like a kite, I've done some things that have helped, but do you have any tips to prevent this ?

Ohhh... interesting... is it when you take more contact or when she sees a barrel? Maybe try lots of flatwork letting her to lower her head in a dressage 'long and low' position? This comes from a steady even contact, maybe try lots of work with her accepting contact and relaxing to your hands? If you need a quick solution, maybe try a running martingale if they're allowed in barren racing. I would suggest running over standing as the horse may learn to simply keep his head up but become used to the constant pull down and ignore this which is a hard habit for them to overcome in the long term
