Hill works always a good one!
I would do a lot of pole work and walk to trot transitions to try and get him to use his back legs more😊
Lots of pole work and serpentines. Really anything to get your horse using its hind end. If he's using his hind end, his back will follow, along with his head. Then he'll truly be using all of his topline muscles
What if I don't have hills near me? What would you recommend?
Draw reins are beneficial but while doing that, incorporated some hill work. Doesn't need to be steep. The horse should be pushing himself up the hill. Also when warming up in the arena, let him have a loose rein and let his head down that way he engages his topline:)
Hi Stephanie! I really recommend investing in a Pessoa system to lunge in! This really gets the horse up underneath them and isn't as easily misused as draw reins or side reins which if used improperly could just work your horses front end on the lunge line. Hope this helps! :)
You can try hill work, it really helps and besides it will keep your horse happy going out!
I would also recommend to do a lot of various work such as schooling lines with small jumps, poles work.
Make sure that when you ride your horse he always carry your weight with his back tight and with a good impulsion.
They would help! You can also do a lot of hill work and proper collection work under-saddle
Yes, draw reins would definitely help !!!
