ASK Ravene : I have a post-colic op horse that can't stand on straw because he eats it. My yard doesn't want to use shavings - what alternative, biodegradable beddings are there?

Thank you!
Hello Leigh,

Indeed, you need to be very careful with your horse’s digestion given the situation. You really need to follow your veterinarian's instructions to the letter.

There are some alternatives to shavings and straw, including wood granules. These granules have to be humidified so they a thick soft layer. It is a very good bedding, very absorbent, easy to maintain and comfortable for the horses.

Good luck!
