What are good bonding exercises that you can do during the summer?
Any time spent with your horse is considered bonding! As long as you aren't harming them. Some ideas are
-grooming
-grazing
-give a bath
-teach them tricks
-lunge them
-go in the arena and run around and jump, see if they start to "play" with you.
-take them on a walk, just as if they were a dog, horses are very curious animals and they love to see new things!
-sit in the paddock/pasture or next to your horses stall. While doing this you can talk to your horse and play with him. Or you can even just simply sit there and read a book or eat a lunch/snack. They just love when their owner is around.

Hope this helps!
Hi Madeline-

A few bonding exercises for you and your horse for the summer can be any of the following. If you are close to a swimmable lake, take a day or a few, and instead of doing a typical ring work, try having the horse hang out around the lake and or in it exercises for you and your horse for the summer can be any of the following. Another one is taking a group summer overnight trail ride. It is a very trusting and sometimes trying experience!
