I agree they there are positives and negatives to any industry. However I do think that the racing industry has more negatives then positives, such as the amount of horses sent to slaughter by the industry, how the horses are trained and treated, etc. For that reason I completely agree with Jennifer that we need better laws for horses and breeders, but also that the animals heath and wellbeing should be the top priority of any equine industry not the money.
Hi Vincent, I've rehabed and trained more than several OTTB'S in my horse career, and your right there are good in bad in any industry. But when it comes to the well being of any living creature we must strive always to do better. We are their only defense. Breeder's should be licensed, and put under scrutiny with better protective laws to ensure the best for this magnificent animal.
The racing world is fascinating with all his good and bad sides. Money is probably too important in that world but like in so many industries and sports. I prefer to keep concentrate on the beauty of this sport.
