my old pony did that for a while and got really bad about it then we realized he had ulcers in his mouth. they were hidden in his gums so we couldn't see them but it hurt to have a bit in his mouth which is why he would throw his head up when we tried to put the bridle on.
Give him a treat after everytime so that he'll start associating the Bridle with food and he'll always take the bit!
Thx Amber , I'll try that out now as I have just arrived at my barn . I am really happy people take the time to help out 😀
just like Amber said you can't really stop him from refusing to put on the bridle but i know a few people buy some carrot or apple flavoured whips to whip on your bit
You can't exactly stop him but what you can do is have a bridle in one hand so you have got a free hand. Then you use your free hand and put it over his face this should stop him from putting his head away (if he does ) now you just simply put the bridle on ;)
