What are some of the best ways to treat and prevent 'greasy heel'?

Greasy heel is due to repeted exposure to moisture so to prevent it I would advise you to keep your horse in a dry and clean environment and monitor your horse limbs to be able to treat the problem as soon as you notice it. To treat it you'll need to clip the area and clean it with an antiseptic solution, after that you can use an antiseptic cream or zinc oxide paste onto the skin.
Remember that moisture is your enemy! If you catch it early the treatment can be very successfull that's why it's very important to monitor the limb as often as possible.
