What is the difference between normal riding reins and grass reins?

What is the difference between normal riding reins and grass reins?

Grass reins keep the horses head up so he/she can't graze. They are usually just tied to the ring of the bit and then tied onto the saddle some where. They also have ones that connect to the crown of the bridle then connect to the saddle as well.
