How do I know when I am ready to start jumping?

How do I know when I am ready to start jumping?
You have to make sure you can securely canter around the ring by yourself without stirrups as well as over poles
When you are 100% trusting of your horse and have very good balance + flexibly while riding
my old barn's sort of 'criteria' was:
• walk
• trot
• canter
• collect all the gaits
• be able to extend all the gaits
• hold your two point/half seat for an extended amount of time
• keep the canter for six minutes (ik, weird one)
• walk/trot/canter no stirrups
• walk/trot/canter bareback
• find distances to poles on the ground

a lot of this checklist were my trainers making sure i had the leg strength to make it over the jump and stay on. it's a good thing to base your readiness off of, however, don't feel obligated to have to be able to do ALL of this before you start jumping!
When you and your horse have the confidence too. You need to make sure that you have a good, secure seat, and that you trust your horse. Start going over some elevated ground poles and cross rails to build your confidence, and when you feel ready ask your trainer to help you jump bigger fences
