"Grip with your butt" that's what my trainer told me
Definitely do a lot of no stirrup work in the saddle first. Then just take it slow and only start with what your comfortable at and slowly move up. Also don't try to balance on your horses mouth you will fall of.
Learn how to sit every gait with out stirrups. Then go to bareback on the horse with the smoothest trot
When I first started riding bareback I found that putting a neck rope on your horse helps a lot! That way if you lose your balance you can just grab the neck rope, if you don't have one you can just use an old stirrup leather πŸ™‚ Remember: Practice makes perfect!😁
Ride without stirrups a few times before going bareback and for your first time do it on a comfortable horse!! You'll need to be more collected while riding bareback because it's easier to fall off.... slip and slide etc. And have fun!! Good luck 😊
