Yes I agree! Start taking lessons and find the right barn. Once you have advanced and you're riding really well, and if your trainer approves I'd look for a lease even if it's just for 6 months to a year just to get a feel of what owning a horse is like even though it's quite different. If your trainer agrees you're ready to start looking for a horse and you're confident in your riding, would be the perfect time to look. Good luck!! Take lessons first because I've seen a lot of bad things happen to people who aren't extremely knowledgeable and go out and buy horses. No offence to you! Have fun!

I would find a barn and learn to ride and get all the basics down before getting a horse. Once you feel comfortable and are more advanced in the riding world, I would look at leasing or even buying.
