From our experience, here are the benefits of stem cell injection:
- Less scar tissue better mechanical functions
- More convenient : One single injection for tendonitis (i.e) or one injection per year for a joint compared to a daily treatment or monthly treatment.
- Less side effects – corticosteroid are known to amplify cartilage degradation, whereas stem cells stops cartilage degradation and may promote cartilage regeneration in young horses.
And probably less costly when considering the total cost over one year.
Typically, stem cells are considered to modifiy the disease, and not only the symptoms, as some anti-inflammatory drugs do.
