How do I control a horse that pulls in my hands a lot and only thinks about speed ? Like he's always super heavy on the hands and when I put some tension, he doesn't respond well.

you have to do some flatwork, using an hard bit or something like that is useless
I have had alot of horses like that the way I have found the most affective and to get them to listen was the Calvary halt it seem to work verry well for me
Lots of half halts and if that doesn't work I half completely and then rein back a few steps and wait a few seconds and go when I want to then continue but if she does it again WAM! I do t again until she listens to me? :))
Lots and lots of half halts. At this point however, he probably won't respond to half halts either. So something to remember is when a half halt doesn't work, do a full halt, because it's unacceptable for them to run through your hands. This problem is going to take a lot of time, ex. You may be just asking for halts in your rides for a few weeks. But he'll most likely get passed it with the right dedication
i rode a horse like that as well...it just took us some time to get used to each other and eventually we fell into a compromise and he learned to listen to my aids and i learned to get used to the weight of his head, though some may have opposing views on letting him carry himself on my hands i felt that was the best for us since he was so used to that...by the point that a year had passed when i was riding him he carried himself and responded very well to my leg and there was no more relying on my hands to hold him up...it's a long process but a worth full one, if you aren't looking for a fast solution
