& to the person below: using the natural argument is highly invalid. everything we do with horses is unnatural as well as most of the breeds humans have created. yes, western pleasure horses are bred to go slow at all gaits. they are made to move slow, hence why confo matters when determining if the horse should train/compete in western pleasure. it is not abuse. it is not painful. they are made that way. it is a good sport that targets the natural movement of a horse.
the horse has to have proper muscle and confo to be able to do so. feel free to dm me on instagram (agilequines) and i can judge his confo and give you some tips to help him travel correctly
Half haut and massage the horses tounge with the bit
It’s not natural for them to have to go slower in a canter. A canter means faster so if you want to go slower then you should trot. It’s not a goos sport
