Ask Mavis Spencer : My horse tends to get hot and bucks when we turn to a jump. How can I stop him from doing that without circling or pulling his face?

It may seem counter intuitive by the the more you can leave them alone and put less pressure on the better they will be! I agree with Myrthe though the more you can do lots of small Jumps and poles to get them to relax the better. It may be an excitement thing so the more you jump small without pressure the less exciting it will he
I had a pony who did the same thing, my trainer told me to jump every day or every other day (very low jumps/poles). And make her relaxt and comfortable with that, so when I'm in the ring, she's more relaxt :)
