At the end of every ride my ankles are always really sore and stiff after keeping my heels down, especially when doing roadwork. I ride in composite stirrups, any recommendations?

I like flexi stirrups as they bend along with the ankle if that makes any sense XD So for me it really takes off the extra pressure, and you don't need to spend too much money on them unless you're getting those fancy Sprenger ones
Have you tried wrapping your heels? I have terribly weak ankles and that seems to help me. Plus, I also use Avon achy foot and muscle cream if they're really bad and I LOVE that stuff.
I love Jin sturruips, a bit expensive for some people but will last your lifetime!! They are so comfortable, very light with grippy bottoms!!
Try exercises to loosen up your ankles, or try jointed stirrup irons. It helped a lot for me, my ankles are too supple/loose to ride comfortable in normal ones.
During the ride when your just walking take your feet out of the stirrups and just keep rotating them I find it really helps I have a really bad hip and ankles and I find it helps a lot and I don’t be in as much pain as I used to be
I used to have the same problem, a friend told me after my ride to rotate my ankles before getting off and it just works out the stiffness
