What exactly is the purpose of clipping? Many say it’s because of the winter but don’t they need their coats due to the cold?

I think it’s to keep the horse from sweating as much and I also think that it’s for looking presentable at shows
If your horse sweats he takes hours to dry in the cold and can get colic. This will let them dry a lot faster
It's to stop the horse getting sweaty and hot while working during winter.
When a horse works a lot during winter he sweats and the sweat doesn't dry as fast as during summer so it's to prevent colds, because if the horse's fur is shorter It takes less time to dry so se doesn't stay wet 😊
if you clip you have to use a blanket to keep them warm
Like Maggie said. It is to get dryer quicker, espexially during Winter. Prevents them from getting colds.
It helps in the winter when they are consistently doing a lot of work they won’t get as hot and dry faster, it also looks nicer for when you are showing during the winter!
