I want to try a new bit. Currently I use a double joint snaffle but my mare just does not turn very well, a little hard to pull up and ignores leg aid. Any recommendations?

Try a full cheek snaffle and take lessons with a good instructor.
I’d say this is a training issue and would be best solved with a few lesson versus bitting up. Changing the bit to something stronger will get you a couple of good rides, but will end up being ineffective because the root of the problem is in training. Spend the money you’d buy the bit with on a lesson, you won’t regret it.
butterfly bit's are good for horses that don't pull up but you have to be gentle with it. but thats all i got
