Tips on picking up the correct diagonal when posting and noticing that I'm on the wrong one quickly?
Sit the trot, and start posting with the outside shoulder. If you pick up the wrong one, sit and try again. If you keep practicing this, eventually you will be able to feel the correct diagonal without even looking at the shoulder!
Glance down really quickly but don’t move your upper body. Also, try to post on the wrong one so you can feel that you’re on the wrong one. Sit two beats then post again to fix it
I go to sitting right away then pick up the correct diagonal ASAP
When in lessons or using on your own, try picking up the correct diagonal before looking. Soon enough, you’ll be able to feel what is correct and what isn’t
Try to get in it when you’re not looking. You’ll start to get it so often that it’ll just become habit.
Start with a sitting trot and let it bounce you up onto your correct diagonal! That’s how I learned. Of course outside shoulder going forward is when you go up, and do you can check it, but the sitting trot starts you off to feel the diagonal
Once you’ve done it for long enough you can usually feel when you’re posting wrong, it kinda feels like you’re imbalanced. But if you cant feelt it just quickly glance down at the outside leg or in a mirror if you have one :)
