I use front boots all the time and back boots for lunging
I use front and back boots every ride for support for the tendons/ligaments in the leg and overall protection
I suggest you to use front boots most of the time, not only for jumping. That's a kind of precaution for basic injuries.
That's just for protection. Most horses knock their hooves on their fetlock causing injuries etc..
Id lunge a horse with pole work and cavaletti to see if your horse tends to do that.
But it's still good to put at least front boots just in case
