I rode hunters for 14 years and for the past 10 years I have ridden in the jumpers. I got bored of the hunter divisions and always riding the same course again and again. Not to mention the politics that come with the hunter ring. Jumpers have more of a thrill and are a lot more technical in terms of skill. Jumpers are more of a change and exciting. I say do it!
Jumpers are super fun and they will not drag you down. They make you push yourself and ride more aggressive (tighter turns, faster, etc.). Give it a try and if you don’t like it go back to the hunters
Well, i never practice hunters as we dont hv it in Europe but i did turned some riders from hunter to jumping in my clinics in Canada , and they all happy with the change, if you feel ready for something different, and (in my opinion with no offence to hunter riders ) more exciting , you should switch 😉
* you shouldn't see it too often but on lower levels it is very frequent.
I think jumpers will drag you down. I did jumpers for years and all that matters is speed and clear rounds. It doesn't matter how well you ride. So you will see (not always but often) riders ride their horse or pony like crap, no balance, and the horse or pony just running, jumping as well as it can. If you're in a bigger class
