How can I get my distance right every time ?

It depends what height you are competing, now a days the corses are so complicated that a good stride isn’t possible for every fence. What I do with my boy is get him in a good forward canter and we keep our rhythm, I’m gutsy so I will always ask for a far take off if things don’t go to plan.
I know that it isn’t exactly the answer you were looking for but I could never ‘see a stride’ and this method works better for both of us.
