Hey! I groom my horse normally as if he had his summed coat! I use the curry and a brush, not to hard but not to soft! My only concerns are with the rug (so it doesn't leave marks on his skin) and with the saddle pads, some are too rough and leave marks..

Depending on how sensitive your horses skin is, I like to take a harder brush and then a soft brush.
If your horse isn't too sensitive or when they get dirty I have a very soft curry that I will use as well. I find currying is very beneficial for their skin so if you can still do it lightly I would.
Damp towels also work well for around their face/body.
