You could try lunging once an a while but it is very hard on their joints and increases the risk of arthritis. It also means not taking the time to train your horse to stop
If you are nervous it happens, maybe find someone who can be more confident on your horse and do some training rides!
To prevent bucking...
Push through the bucks works but some horses can buck through this and hard if they are strong enough. Make sure when pushing forward you keep your connection as the purpose of this is to get them on their hind end and off their forehand.
Halt and back up can aid as a reminder to not buck.
Another trick is when they start to buck turn your horse in tight circles, it will prevent them from bucking as it is too difficult when they are bent!
Hope things get better!
Lunge her before every time you ride her and don’t use spurs or crops
Agree with @alannahreilly
. Push her forward when she starts bucking, she'll get out of the habit after a while 🙂
You have to be confident in youself when you are riding. Any negative energy or fear you have will go directly to her and she will be nervous too. When she bucks, you have to kick her forward, no matter what! It is much easier said than done, I know, but to break the habit you have to push her forward and make sure she knows that bucking is going to be “worse” (since you will be nagging her to go forward) than just going to trot. Good luck! Hope she’s better this time ☺️
