I have a horse going to his first show ever, he’s 9 and still quite green. Do you have any tips to settle him before my dressage class? The ring is outdoors next to a forest

Lunge first if you can - and lots of warm up!
Plan your warmup. Suit up and travel to the showgrounds before your show and also take him shows without showing. Warmup there too. We have several young horses that we take around alot. Really helps. Happy trails!
Thank’s for all the help! ❤️
Hey Maya! I’d suggest working and preparing earlier. Giving him a little work out around the spooky areas might help him. Remember you can always work a horse down. If he starts freaking out, lots of small circles/ trot and leg yielding. If his focus is elsewhere try your best to get it back on you with the small circles/leg yield. Try to channel your horses energy into you.
mabey taking him to a show before this one and just riding him around in the practice ring so he can get used to the surroundin
Hi Maya!
Sometimes a small trail walk can calm a horse before a round and hopefully settle him a bit in the new environment-be wary though if he spooks easily. Best wishes!
