Hi Karolina :) I think before shortening your stirrups you have to learn how to ride without them.
The way you use your leg depends a lot on how you ride with your seat, so no-stirrups work is the ideal way of working on it.
You don't necessarily need to do full schooling without stirrups all the time, you can do it once every two weeks maybe, but I advise you to work a little without your stirrups every time you ride (15 minutes maybe), it will surely help!
