Young riders programs of many european countries have always been very good.
The proximity with so many nations with strong teams makes competition such as the Young Riders European Championship very competitive!
I think the american federation was higly focused on the construction and the strengthening of a smiliar system in America.
We haven't got the same amount of young athletes competing in children and junior classes. The federation accepted this difference and is trying to promote competitions such as nation cups everywhere in North America.
When I was part of the american team in Langley, British Columbia, for example, the USA also sent a children and a junior team. It was an amazing experience for all the participants to be able to compete with american riders of other ages!
