Hello! I do both! One isn’t Better than the other, but it really depends on your horses jump. The crest release is usually easier, because it helps with balance and you Don’t need to control your upper body as much. Auto will mean you have complete control over your upper body and won’t rely on the neck for support or balance. The best way to work on it (in my opinion), is gymnastic exercises! So lots of grids. Lots of grids with bounces. Then instead of crest release, just stand in your stirrups, and let your hands go down. If you find your upper body flopping over that means your balance isn’t good enough quite yet and hay just means more practice! Auto release is definitely more of an automatic thing that’s for sure but you’ll get it with the grids and just standing in your stirrups instead of folding at your hips. Hope that helps!
