How do you get young horses to use both legs when jumping?
Bounces in a grid, or setting up a vertical with two poles resting to make an arrow shake pointing up. I tend to find height makes a huge difference. My old horse wouldn’t bother over crosses or small uprights and would take them more as a canter stride leading with 1 leg, but as soon as you put up the jumps or make it into a spread they would find it very difficult to jump leading on one leg so would have to make a proper shape! Hope this helps x
I personally would place out trot poles but 4 steps apart and practice cantering over them. Or just keep jumping and let it come on its own. Or maybe even do some gymnastic work.
