How to not be scared to learn how to canter?

When I was first Learning how to canter I was scarred of losing my balance or not being able to sear him so I got my parents just to lunge me on him and when I was ready put him into canter so if anything happened they were there to stop him it made me feel a lot more Comfortable knowing they were there and just breath and have fun.xx
When I first cantered I was scared out of my mind, but I realized that if I don’t canter right now I probably never will so I told my horse to canter right there and it was super fun, I couldn’t wait to do it again, sometimes you just gotta try even if your afraid! It’ll be great we know you can do it 👍
Just take deep breaths and if you don’t feel comfortable, definitely ask your trainer to put you on a lunge line. Once you’re confident on a lunge line then try it on your own. Just enjoy yourself!
Take your time and have someone you trust like a trainer or a friend teach you and let you practice. Relax too, once you have done it a few times it will become second nature. And smile it really helped me because I wasn’t concentrating on cantering and then the horse went into it and I just kept going. Xx
When people first learn how to canter, they are beginner riders and therefore trainers will not put them on challenging horses that spook easily or take off. So you do not need to worry about the horse misbehaving and such as they can also sense your fear. Just relax and follow the movement of the horse. If u are really worried, u can ask your trainer to put you on a lazy horse or have u canter on the lunge line so u won't have to worry about steering.
