[email protected] is it necessary for a grand prix rider to see distances 5 or more strides before the fence, moreover is the ability to see good distances talent or a work result?

I am riding in the 1.10m and I can feel a distance from 5 or so strides away. It takes TIME and patience, I call it feeling a distance because that’s what it is, you just learn to understand a horse’s stride and where you’re at depending on your pace and the horse’s step. Goodluck!
I’m not the person you’re asking, however all riders (or definitely most), can see distances multiple strides out. Even before turning corners, riders can see one or two distance. Some people are naturally more capable to develop an eye, and others will gain their eye with work. It’s hard to develop but it’s something that develops with the more you ride and the more you jump
