When teaching yourself it can be challenging to catch small mistakes you are making or little ways your position isn't quite correct. Have a friend video you riding every once in a while, then watch yourself and see what problems you notice. That way you are aware of the subtle things you may not pick up on while riding just by the feel of it. By being able to see it, you can more easily work to correct it.
Always work hard with your horse on the ground and create manners and a strong bond. The more connected you are on the ground, the better you’ll be in the saddle. And always be willing to learn from other riders mistakes, or even watching videos. There are a ton of educational riding videos on YouTube. I personally enjoy CRK Training.
