Ask Emma Booth : I’m paralyzed barrel racer. Every time I’m feeling good, I hear non-paralyzed equestrians talking bad about me. How do I ignore this or get through it?

Hi Sydnie,

Thanks for the question.
It’s sad to hear that there are sometimes negative things said but I do understand where you’re coming from.
I often have people criticise me for leaning to far back when riding, before they know I am a para rider. My best advice would always be to be the bigger person and believe in yourself. There are negative things said all the time but it’s how you let these things impact you that’s important. If you choose to ignore anything bad that is said, then you’re taking away their power and giving it to yourself. Be confident in your own abilities and never let small minded people bring you down.
Hope this helps :)
All the best and happy riding!

Emma
