What is the difference between A, B, & C Rated shows?
It’s pretty much the difference in quality of the horses. Price also plays a big role, as AA shows will be exponentially more expensive than a C. Sometimes quality of the facilities differentiate between different rated shows, but it’s very common to have one facility host a C show one weekend and an A the next. Bigger shows (A and AA) usually last longer—the competition begins on Tuesday and ends Sunday; while smaller B and C shows will start on Friday and go through Sunday. You’re not going to get national qualifying points for anything at a C show, but if you’re not interested in that kind of thing, C shows are still really fun and usually offer pretty good competition at a fraction of the price!
