Do you think that squats will really help strengthen my legs? If so, what other parts will they help me with for riding?
My trainer had me work up to doing 500 post ups without stirrups before I was allowed to start jumping. No- stirrup work definitely helped my legs strengthen!
I think that squats with help strengthen your legs, but you should also maybe try to do other exercices, because squat will strengthen your tights, but to ride, you also need strength in the calves.
