Daniel Bluman

"We need to remember why we started this sport: because we love horses". To Daniel Bluman, to respect and be honest with horses is essential. He started his story with horses in Colombia at 3 years old and it soon became his lifestyle. He began international jumping competitions and won his first show in the US at 10, right in front of his mother who supported him every step of the way. He competed in a lot of international locations such as the United States, Germany or Belgium before settling himself in Florida where he still represents Colombia, including at the London and Rio Olympic Games and where he joined the Hermes team.

Hi Karen,

I always loved Hermès, but as we all know it a a very high hand brand, so I had limited access to their products. One day they approached me about the possibility of being one of their ambassadors. I was very honored and took the opportunity without thinking twice.

Hi Alexia,

That's actually a good question ! I try to keep a very honest and sincere relationship with the owners, being always accurate when making plans for the future and valuing their horses correctly. It is very important for me to keep my owners happy because without them it's not possible to stay in the top level of the sport.

Hi Philippa,

The only thing that I like to do is the horses more than anything else, but I like watching all the sports on TV when there are a big sports (tennis, football..) finals. And spending time with my family.

Hi Kim,

I try to teach all of my students the basics of dressage and then develop into jumping and I make specific programs depending the horse's and riders's strengths and weaknesses.

At Bluman Equestrian we have multiple trainers, when people want to train with us they can contact the team and we try to see if it is possible to start our collaboration.

Hi Tessy,

Most of my horses are very careful, I prefer to ride horses that have a lot of quality and not necessarily all the scope. It comes easier for me to create scope than to manufacture quality. Apardi is our horse that has all the quality that you can expect on a horse, anytime he has a fault is when he can get anxious or nervous. All of my horses in general correspond to that criteria. When I look for a horse I always look for horses who do not want to touch by any mean, that is how I like them.

Daniel

Hi Tessy,

The best advice that I was given was to 'ride to become the best rider that I can be without focusing on only making money'. When you become a successful rider and you compete in prestigious events, money comes to you without looking for it. The best advice that I tell all the people tat I train is that we must be always respectful and honest with our horses, we must remember why we started this sport: because we love the horses.

Hi Will,

I It would be Sancha without hesitation, she was the first one of my career, she might not be the best horse of my career but she will always be the loyal partner that took me around the world when I was not really ready!

Hi Dereck,

I have worked very closely with Nelson Pessoa and Eric Lamaze, both were of very big influence in my career. Currently I work very closely with Stall Mirstin. And of course I count on the luck of having two coaches who are fantastic riders as well : Mark and Ilan Bluman.

Hi Kareen,

I think the Olympics were great competition, fantastic sport without to say, personally it didn't go as planned for me. I was not completely ready for this championship atmosphere.

Hi Amy,

William Schwitzen with Over the top stables that currently owns a share of three of my Grand Prix horses. I also count on a big group of loyal investors who have been allowing be to always buy very good young prospects. I take pride in the fact that during my 8 years as a professional rider I have not had an unhappy investor or owner.
