I'm going to tell you a little about Luka & how I came to owning her.
I first met Luka when I was 13 years old (now 21) & she was 13 heading for 14. My parents took me to meet her at the stud farm that she was at. I wasn't told a great deal about her only that she needed a rider, someone to exercise & spend time with her.
I must admit, I wasn't very taken with Luka, she was shut down & not very receptive of fuss. (At 13 I didn't know better than what I'd seen at friends houses & at riding schools.) The groom rode her in the arena before I did & she looked fun. I rode her, she was ever so sensitive to the leg & really put me in my place. I was used to forward going but not that forward!
I enjoyed a hack out on her a short while later & then we said our goodbyes after me giving her a feed & putting her back out in the field.
A week or so later, I was invited to my Godmother's house as they wanted to show me something. Luka was in one of their stables! They told me that she was with them as the lady who owned her was on holiday & they wanted her exercised. I was allowed to ride her every other day.
My Godmother told me that Ian, her husband & my Godfather, had bought Luka & they were ever so excited about a new horse in the family!
A week later, I got off my school bus to find my, now, exboyfriend standing in front of the telephone box. I asked him why he was there & her just smiled. My childhood friend ran around the corner to say they had a surprise for me. We walked to where my Mum usually parked her car to pick me up. Everyone was there, my Mum, Dad, family friend & Godparents... & LUKA with a ribbon around her neck! She was mine!
I didn't believe it and the first thing out of my mouth to my parents annoyance was 'how much did she cost?!' We were always worrying about money, silly of me to ask really!
That's the start to our journey but nowhere near where we are now! Keep an eye out for the next update! Here's a picture of the day I had her, 8 years ago!
