What are some advice to calm yourself when you're nervous to ride out in the field and in the outside arena? My horse is new to the stable I’m worried she might spook and bolt off
Take it slow, maybe ride inside first or lunge your horse to let it lose some energy first. My mare gets excited when riding out, so I like to ride her inside for 15-20mins first, and then go out.
I don't have a trainer or anyone really in the equine industry that I can take to being with me to test horses to buy or lease. Who can I bring or what is some advice?
I would recommend bringing someone (maybe a friend) who has more experience than you. I would also highly recommend that you have a vet check done, even if the dealer says that the horse has clear x-rays. Better safe than sorry.
How do you stay positive after a bad ride? When you feel like you’re taking one step forward and three steps back.
Think about what you could have done better, and try to improve those things for your next ride. I know that you can feel unmotivated and unconfident after a bad ride, but it is important to focus on the good! Even the best riders have bad days! Keep pushing forward, improvement takes time. ;)
