My horse gets very strong when we start to jump and when i half halt he pulls down and we begin getting in a fight, i don't have a strong bit on him, any tips?
My horse can be the same. It helps to open your hands and start rising in the beat of the canter as I make my way to the next jump before sitting up as I near the jump and pick up slightly more contact before repeating my actions after the jump
I am competing in 1,20 category, next year I will go to 1,30 and my trainer thinks my horse won’t do it should I try to make her compete? Or sell her and buy a horse that is ready?
If you work with your horse you shouldn't need to get another horse that is ready to go. If your hoping to go up a level you can learn with your horse instead of getting a horse that knows everything, making it an easier option yes but you would become a better rider if you worked up the levels with your horse as you can new tricks and good experience for the future
my canter transitions need some work😬 . I can only do one from the trot and it is not very pretty. my pony is a little lazy but I have to kick kick kick! any tips?😯
Try lunging and get the horse used to your voice at the different commands. When your horse is used to your voice on lunge, when asking to canter whilst riding could be easier if he hears the command
